Canadian South Asians Supporting Independent Living (C-SASIL) is a 1st South Asians non-profit organization which is run by and for persons with disabilities. Ninety percent of the board directors of
C-SASIL have some type of disability.

C-SASIL was founded in 1999 and incorporated in 2000 to empower the South Asians with disabilities to become independent in society and to raise awareness within the South Asian community with regards to persons with disabilities and disability related issues.

Our primary work is to provide front line support to Individuals with disabilities and their families particularly on issues of settlement as newcomers as well as to gain access to services they need. C-SASIL staff provides supportive counselling to families and individuals with disabilities.

C-SASIL also offers support groups that focus on creating a sense of community between individuals with disabilities and their families. We also organize disability awareness events, arrange trips, information sessions and workshops.

Mission

We are a non-profit organization supporting South Asians with disabilities to achieve their life goals to live an independent life with dignity. We do this by creating awareness, promoting the rights of persons with disabilities and building a support network for individuals and their families.
